A huge welcome to Benoit (Ben) Bechade, who joined the lab as a postdoc in March 2023! Ben is an expert in analyzing multivariate -omic datasets to characterize the function of insect microbiota. He did his PhD in the Russell Lab at Drexel, where he studied the turtle ant microbiome. In Ravenscraft Lab, Ben will both manage the beetle arm of our research on symbiont mediated detoxification of plant defenses, and continue exploring the composition and function of the firefly microbiome. Ben is a fantastic asset to the lab and a wonderful mentor. He has even organized and started teaching an informal class on bioinformatics during our lab meetings - it has amazing!
